The President of the Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA), Hajiya Dr. Nafisa Shehu Mohammed, has expressed deep sympathy with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the tragic loss of six of its members in a recent road traffic crash, while also commiserating with the families of the two other victims who lost their lives in the crash involving renowned international sports icon, Anthony Joshua.

At the same time, she commended personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for their swift, professional and courageous response, particularly in the prompt rescue of the Sports Icon as well as management of the crash scene.

She noted that the prompt deployment and effective rescue operations carried out by the officers reflect a high level of preparedness, discipline and commitment to saving lives.

She expressed delight at the overwhelming positive comments from members of the public, both locally and internationally, describing the reactions as a clear endorsement of the professionalism, responsiveness and life-saving capacity of FRSC personnel.

According to her, the officers’ conduct at the crash scene ensured effective traffic control, prevented further danger to other road users and facilitated prompt medical attention where required.

Hajiya Dr. Nafisa Shehu Mohammed emphasised that the sacrifices of FRSC personnel are shared by their families, assuring them of ROSOWA’s continued support. She also urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, stressing that responsible driving remains critical to preventing avoidable road crashes.

While commiserating with the families of the two victims that died, Dr Nafisa wished Anthony Joshua a speedy recovery.
