Benue ‎2027: Insecurity tops agenda as stakeholders make case for Zone B

Party stalwarts from Zone B senatorial district of Benue State have decried the insecurity ravaging the state, saying Prof Sebastian Tar Hon has the competence required to tackle it and many other challenges in the state.

A ‎former Head of Service, Benue State Government, Elder Mike Iordye who urged a Prof Sebastine Hon SAN, a prominent constitutional lawyer to enter the 2027 governorship race, stressed that it is the turn of Zone B to clinch the top seat.

‎Iordye spoke on behalf of Nongov people in the Makurdi residence of an APC chief, Akange Audu on Friday.
‎
‎He said, “Zone A has been governor four times while our zone has got it only twice.
‎”The governor is for Zone B.”
‎
‎He described Prof Hon as a knowledgeable, dependable and trustworthy man.
‎
‎”I knew Prof Hon in Port Harcourt.
‎”We have listened to what he said.
‎
‎”This is the man that made Ortom to secure his seat as governor.
‎
‎”We went to court. It was a difficult case. Prof Hon has worked for us.”
‎
‎Ealier, Chief Akange Audu while welcoming the guests said Makurdi Local Government Area is the place to labour because it presents a large population of electorate.
‎
‎The representative of Ihyarev people, Elder Jila Godwin lamented, “Insecurity has reduced us to nothingness.
‎
‎”Our people are now slaves. For five years, we can’t go to farm.
‎
‎”We’re in the border area so quite vulnerable to Fulani assaults.”
‎
‎Mrs Dina Hila who spoke for women reiterated the security concerns noting that once it is tackled, the people will appreciate.
‎
‎Prof Hon who spoke emotionally promised to tackle insecurity, poverty and ensure 100 percent local government autonomy.
‎
‎Political leaders of APC, PDP and ADC from two local government areas of Makurdi and  Guma were present.
