Prof. Hon Calls For Urgent Action Against Lassa Fever Outbreak In Benue

A frontline gubernatorial hopeful for Benue State in 2027, Prof. Sebastine Tar Hon, SAN, has called for concerted action against the outbreak of Lassa Fever in Benue State.

He expressed worry over the rapid spread of the Laser Fever epidemic in Benue State.

The situation is dire, and immediate action is needed to contain the outbreak, he said in a

The Laser Fever epidemic has spread to multiple communities, putting thousands at risk.

So far, three doctors at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi have contracted the disease and are in an isolation facility.

Prof. Hon SAN has urged the Benue State Government to activate emergency response mechanisms to curb the spread of the disease.

He called on the authorities to:

i. Monitor schools to prevent further spread among children and youths; and consider a temporary closure of schools to tame the menace.
ii. Establish isolation/quarantine centers for affected individuals
iii. Deploy medical personnel and equipment to affected areas
iv. Educate citizens on prevention and management.

He also appealed to public-spirited individuals and organizations to donate resources to support voluntary testing, procurement of essential drugs, and other relief efforts.

Speaking to newsmen, Prof. Hon said together, we can combat this epidemic.
