Renowned governorship hopeful in Benue State Prof Sebastine Hon on Monday met Kwande political stakeholders in Makurdi in furtherance of his political journey ahead of 2027.
Prof. Hon solicited the Kwande people’s support saying if made governor, he would tackle insecurity in their area.
He told them that he advocated for Benue State at the Oputa panel.
”I’ve been fighting for the minorities in the middle belt.
”I wrote the Nigerian Army demanding N50 billion after the massacre of our people.
”We need a coroner inquest for the case. Government has been uncooperative in this matter.
”The sustained terror acts in Kwande are a result of illegal mining,” he stated.
He said if elected, he will work with the governors of neighbouring states of Nasarawa and Taraba to end the suppression of the people.
He promised to tackle poverty through empowerment.
”I will be just. I will not favour my Jemgbagh clan against others.
”I will grant 100 percent autonomy to local governments,” said the Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The Director General, Sebastine Hon 2027 Campaign Team, Dr Ngutor Anyam said he entered the campaign because insecurity has ravaged his place and Prof. Hon has shown commitment to tackle it.
He lamented that the Benue State governor had refused to issue a fiat for a case he instituted against the Nigerian Army following the 0murder of villagers in his Turan clan.
Dr Anyam expressed hope that if Prof Hon becomes governor, the matter will get the attention it deserves.
He praised Prof. Hon for always fighting for the welfare of the people, citing his decision to defend Prof. Zacharys Gundu free of charge in the case instituted by Gov. Abdullah Sule of Nasarawa State.
He said the much talked about zoning does not affect Prof. Hon’s chances because the mandate is for only four years, pointing out that Jack Gyado who was senator for only three months still carries the title senator.
He said Alia has progressed in error and so must be stopped, stressing that he lacks capacity to govern.
A Second Republic commissioner in Benue State, Barr. Vincent Uji who hosted the guests in his residence said consultations would be made on the request by Prof. Hon.
Elder Patrick Ahenjir praised Prof. Hon for his great work and prayed for his success.
A victim of Fulani terrorists, Mr. Thompson Kum, who was held by the terrorists for 14 days, attended the meeting.
It would be recalled that Kwande Progressive Union (KWAPU), Abuja chapter last year installed Prof. Hon as Mule of Kwande.
