Insecurity: Prof. Hon Campaign Org. Demands Action, Accountability From Gov. Alia
A frontline gubernatorial hopeful, Prof. Sebastine Hon, SAN, campaign organisation has decried the rising spate of insecurity in Benue State and demanded concrete action from the Governor, Rev. Fr. Hiacynth Alia.
This call is coming after the recent bloody attack in Apa Local Government.
“Benue people are tired of lamentations. We demand action. We demand accountability” a statement signed by Dr. Ngutor Anyam, the Director General Sebastine Hon Campaign Organisation said.
Recall in Sunday 12 April 2026, more than 10 sons and daughters of Edikwu-Ankpali in Apa Local Government Area were gruesomely murdered by terrorists. This is not the first time. On Sunday 1 June 2025, the same community lost over 11 lives to the same bloodthirsty killers.
He wondered why the attack is consistent.
“We wonder why it is always on Sunday. Why on a Holy Day when Christians gather to worship? Is this calculated evil designed to maximize casualties and desecrate our faith?” He asked.
“Why must pastoralists who graze on our land kill our people and still drive us from our ancestral homes?” He stated.
“For too long, Apa, Agatu, Gwer-West, Gwer-East, Guma, Logo, Ukum, Katsina-Ala, Kwande and even Makurdi LGAs have bled under relentless terror. For too long, the Benue State Government has watched in silence. No arrests. No justice. No protection. Just press statements and empty condolences” he stated.
“Governor Hyacinth Alia must be called to task. He swore to protect lives and property. Protect us now, or admit you cannot and resign honourably” the campaign organisation DG called.
The organisation expressed condolences to the family that have lost loved ones.
“We stand with the grieving families of Edikwu-Ankpali. We stand with every Benue community under siege. We pledge that under our watch, no inch of Benue soil will be surrendered to terrorists and no Benue life will be wasted without consequence.”
“Enough blood. Enough excuses. End the killings now” Sebastian Hon Campaign Organisation tasked the governor.
