The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has commenced the phase one installation of five modern floaters on River Benue to provide a sustainable water supply for the Food Basket Brewery, marking another milestone in the Benue State Government’s industrialization drive.
The project is designed to serve as the Water Sedimentation and Reservoir Plant for the brewery, ensuring an uninterrupted water supply for brewing operations while also creating the capacity to distribute surplus treated water to Makurdi and surrounding communities.
Reacting to the development, BIPC’S Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, CFA, explained that the installation of the floaters is a critical component of the water treatment’s infrastructure.
According to Asemakaha, water remains one of the most essential raw materials in beer production and by drawing water directly from River Benue, the facility is expected to guarantee long-term water security, reduce production costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
“This project is expected to position the Food Basket Brewery for full-scale production by providing the reliable water infrastructure required for increased output,” Asemakaha stated.
The GMD said the development aligns with the vision of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to industrialize Benue State through strategic investments that create jobs, promote local manufacturing, and stimulate economic growth.
The water system when completed will not only support brewery operations but will also contribute to improved water availability for residents of Makurdi and its environs.
