This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday, August 21, 2026, by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

According to him, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on August 20, 2026, following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“Troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee. The rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family,” the statement read.

In a separate operation on August 21, 2026, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Troops engaged the attackers and forced them to withdraw in disarray. During a follow-up pursuit, one terrorist was neutralised. Items recovered at the scene include 2 mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other valuables.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the tempo of operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure safer communities across the Joint Operations Area.

“The Theatre Command reassures the public that troops will continue to respond decisively to emerging threats,” Danja stated.

He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security forces to support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and security.
