Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh operational successes in Kaduna and Katsina States with the arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators, interception of weapons and the destruction of terrorist enclaves.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on Saturday, in Sokoto.
According to the statement, on 27 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 acted on information and apprehended a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State. The suspect was found in possession of two locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect said he had been tasked to deliver the weapons to another individual. Acting on his confession, troops conducted a follow-up operation and arrested two additional suspects linked to the movement of the weapons.
The three suspects, along with the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation.
In a separate operation on 28 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted a clearance operation against identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The troops cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures used by the terrorists to support their criminal activities.
They also destroyed an enclave linked to notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has been terrorising civilians in Matazu and Musawa LGAs. The terrorist leader narrowly escaped as troops advanced.
Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items. Troops thereafter conducted fighting patrols to consolidate gains and deny terrorists freedom of action.
The statement said the successes underscore the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics, and deny terrorists the use of enclaves across the Joint Operations Area.
“The Joint Task Force remains resolute in taking the fight to the terrorists through coordinated and intelligence-driven operations aimed at degrading their capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities,” the statement said.
