The Mbabegha Sub-Kindred and Nzorov Kindred in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State have endorsed and blessed the senatorial ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Benue North-West, Dr. Eunice Ortom. Dr. Ortom.
She was accompanied by her husband and immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom.
They had visited the two groups to formally brief them on her candidature and seek their support and blessings ahead of the 2027 general elections, Enoch Bemshima Ortese, the Director, New Media, Dr. Eunice Ortom, Campaign Organization, in a statement said.
Chief Samuel Ortom explained that the visit was necessary to formally introduce Dr. Eunice Ortom after tensions surrounding her adoption as the party’s candidate had subsided.
Chief Samuel Ortom expressed appreciation to the people of Mbabegha and Nzorov for their longstanding support for his family, stressing that their support remained important to Dr. Eunice Ortom’s political journey.
He said her adoption was largely influenced by her record of impactful leadership and service as First Lady during his tenure as Governor of Benue State. Speaking for Mbabegha Sub-Kindred, Elders Faga Igbuse, Kukyor Ukpough and Aper Utem commended Chief Ortom for maintaining a strong bond with his people and pledged their support for Dr. Eunice Ortom.
The youths and women, represented by Sunday Nyichie and Kuhe Mbacie respectively, also pledged their support.
At Nzorov, the Acting District Head of Nzorov Council Ward, Chief Emmanuel Nyamkyume, speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, offered prayers and blessings for Dr. Eunice Ortom and assured her of the people’s support. Similarly, Elders Ieren Akuku and Mkar Shirsha, representing Gbayange and Atsenyel respectively, called on the people to support and protect Mrs. Ortom, whom they described as a wife and mother of Nzorov.
Responding, Dr. Eunice Ortom thanked the Mbabegha and Nzorov people for their warmth, prayers and confidence in her. She acknowledged the responsibility that comes with their support, noting that “to whom much is given, much is required.” She pledged not to betray the confidence reposed in her and promised to provide inclusive, responsive and people-oriented representation if elected, with her focus guided by the actual needs of the constituents rather than assumptions.
