Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have thwarted a terrorist attack and recovered arms in separate operations in Kaduna State between 23 and 24 September 2026.
According to the Media Information Officer of the task force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations were conducted in Kachia Local Government Area.
Danja said on 23 September, troops of Sector 1 acting on credible intelligence of terrorists movement through the bushes of Rijana, Kachia LGA, swiftly mobilised to the area, laid an ambush and engaged the terrorists on sighting.
“Following the engagement, troops conducted follow-up exploitation of the general area, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier and one military jungle hat, among other items,” he said.
In a separate clearance operation same day at Awom village, Kachia LGA, aimed at denying terrorists safe haven, troops arrested a suspected criminal identified as Mr Jacob.
“He was found in possession of one fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition. The suspect is currently in military custody for further investigation,” Danja added.
The Theatre Command commended troops for vigilance and professionalism, assuring that offensive and clearance operations will be sustained to protect communities within the Joint Operations Area.
