Comptroller Murtala Muazu has assumed office as the 33rd Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Muazu took over following the meritorious retirement of Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, with a pledge to surpass the achievements of his predecessor.
In his resumption remarks, Muazu said the Command would continue to facilitate legitimate trade while protecting the nation’s economic interests and security.
He commended Oshoba’s performance in revenue generation, compliance and trade facilitation, describing it as worthy of emulation.
Muazu described Apapa Port as strategic to Nigeria’s economic growth and pledged to consolidate the gains already recorded, aligning with the Comptroller General of Customs’ policy thrust of consolidation, collaboration and innovation.
On revenue generation, he assured that the Command would adhere to due process and applicable policy documents, including the Common External Tariff, while ensuring compliant consignments are not unnecessarily delayed.
He also pledged to promote a knowledge-driven Command through sustainable human capital development, with emphasis on professionalism among officers and men.
Muazu is an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano and University of Lagos, where he obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees respectively.
