The Nigerian Navy has uncovered about 85,000 litres of substance suspected to be stolen crude oil in a follow-up operation at Allison area, Rivers State.
The Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the operation was conducted by Forward Operating Base (FOB) BONNY on 29 September 2026, following actionable intelligence on a new illegal bunkering site.
According to him, troops uncovered 16 concealed dugout pits, including four containing about 40,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and three others with about 45,000 litres awaiting processing. Hoses used to move crude were also recovered.
Folorunsho noted that the discovery comes barely a week after the deactivation of a major illegal refining camp in the same area on 22 September 2026.
“The successive interventions indicate that attempts to regenerate illicit oil-processing capacity are meeting continued naval pressure,” he said, adding that recovered products were handled in accordance with established procedures.
He said the operation underscores the Navy’s sustained, intelligence-led presence to deny criminal operators infrastructure to store, process and move stolen crude.
