Hon. Felix Ngutswen, House of Representatives aspirant for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on eligible voters across Kwande and Ushongo Local Government Areas to take advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) collection exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ngutswen stressed that the PVC remains an essential instrument for eligible Nigerians to exercise their constitutional right to vote and participate actively in the democratic process.
He urged the people of Kwande and Ushongo to take the exercise seriously, noting that collecting their PVCs is an important step towards determining the leadership and direction of their constituency.
According to him, the power to elect credible representatives rests with the people, and the PVC provides eligible voters with the means to exercise that power at the polls.
He maintained that elections present an opportunity for constituents to make informed choices and vote for leaders who understand their needs, remain accessible to the people, and are committed to delivering good governance and meaningful development.
The NDC aspirant further emphasised that political leadership should not be limited to election campaigns and the quest for votes. He observed that elected representatives have a responsibility to maintain regular contact with their constituents, listen to their concerns, respond to their challenges, and work towards improving their living conditions throughout their tenure.
Ngutswen expressed concern over the tendency of some politicians to abandon the people after elections, only to return when another election season approaches.
He therefore encouraged the electorate to recognise the importance of their votes and make their choices based on the commitment, accessibility, accountability and service records of candidates seeking their mandate.
He called on youths, women, community leaders, civil servants, traders, farmers and other eligible voters across Kwande and Ushongo to ensure they collect their PVCs and keep them safe ahead of the elections.
He also encouraged those who are yet to complete any necessary voter registration or collection procedures to consult INEC through its official channels for guidance on the applicable requirements.
Ngutswen reaffirmed that active citizen participation is fundamental to strengthening democracy and promoting accountable leadership. He urged the people to remain peaceful, law-abiding and politically conscious while exercising their democratic rights.
He concluded by reminding the people that the future of Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency is a collective responsibility and that every eligible voter’s participation matters.
He called on constituents to use their PVCs wisely to support a democratic process that reflects their aspirations for effective representation, responsive leadership and sustainable development.
