The protracted leadership tussle in the Action Alliance (AA) is finally coming to an end, as the Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed 16th November, 2026, for the formal withdrawal and dismissal of the appeal filed by Mr. Adekunle Rufai Omoaje challenging the authentic leadership of the party.
This was disclosed by the Action Alliance Media Directorate on behalf of the National Chairman, Chief Kenneth Udeze, Esq.
In a dramatic turn, Mr. Omoaje had filed a Notice of Withdrawal dated 28th September, 2026, seeking to withdraw his appeal before the apex court.
With the notice, the Supreme Court, pursuant to its Rules, is set to dismiss Appeal No: SC/CV/162/2024. By operation of law, the dismissal will automatically affirm the subsisting judgment of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No: CA/ABJ/CV/922/2022, which had earlier dismissed Omoaje’s case and affirmed the validity of the Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze-led National Executive Committee as the authentic leadership of the party.
It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal had, in a well-considered judgment, affirmed Chief Kenneth Udeze as the National Chairman. Dissatisfied, Omoaje proceeded to the Supreme Court, but has now voluntarily withdrawn the case.
The party said the development marks the end of the road for all forms of impersonation and leadership distraction in the Action Alliance.
“For years, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has continued to act in a manner that is perceived as partisan and in disobedience to the valid judgment of the Court of Appeal which affirmed Chief Udeze. With the impending Supreme Court dismissal, INEC will have no other option than to fully comply,” the statement added.
Reacting to the development, supporters of the party described it as a victory for democracy, internal party discipline and the rule of law.
Chief Kenneth Udeze, the authentic National Chairman of Action Alliance, the statement noted, remains the only chairman recognised by law, adding that the party is now poised to forge ahead united to mobilise Nigerians and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
The party enjoined all members and supporters nationwide to remain calm, law-abiding and disregard any publication from any impostor claiming to act for the party.
