The Governor stated this where he jointly addressed newsmen along with Governor Nyesom Wike and Okezie Ikpeazu of Rivers and Abia States at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in Ikwerre, shortly after their arrival from London.

Governor Ortom had led some members of the PDP family to interface with Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC, Peter Obi of Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of PDP in London.

He pointed out that Nigeria was in distress and people of good conscience must put partisan politics aside and come together to ensure that the country survives the current challenges.

“Nigeria is in distress; there is no doubt about that from top to bottom. Consider what was happening in 2015 and where we are today. So,  it is a concern that we have for our country Nigeria. So this is beyond partisan politics.

“We are looking at how we can come together and find a way of ensuring that Nigeria survives. Nigeria is on drip, Nigeria is on oxygen and how can we get out of this? So, this is the whole thing about it”.

Governor Ortom stated, however, that nothing concrete was arrived at from the meetings, saying the group would continue with consultations.

“Consultation is going on. Nothing concrete to tell you that this is what we have concluded but consultation is going on and will continue to go on. We are still going to meet some other times and see how we can work to ensure that the project Nigeria works”.

Governor of Rivers State, Wike who corroborated Governor Ortom said the team was more interested in a better Nigeria and were consulting widely with those who mean well for the country.

The Rivers State governor noted that all was not well with Nigeria and they were seeking remedies that would restore enduring hope in the country.

On his part, the Governor of Abia State, Dr Ikpeazu, emphasised that they were on a mission and were determined to find a way of rescuing Nigeria.
