The Department of State Security Service (DSS) has been issued one one ultimatum by the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, to either grant bail to the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr..Godwin Emefiele or charge him to court.
Recall the DSS took the embattled CBN Governor into custody following his suspension in office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over allegations bordering on money laundering and terrorism financing.
Justice Hamza Muazu issued the order while delivering ruling in a fundamental human rights suit instituted against the DSS and others by Emefiele.
The judge said Emefiele said that it is within his right to get fair hearing.
Emefiele can’t remain in detention without formal charge the judge said adding that the DSS can’t use the period of Emefiele’s detention to search for evidence against him.
