International Airport, Kano.
The Nigeria Civil Authority (NCAA) has been notified of a report that has
gone viral in the social media claiming the Honourable Minister of Aviation
and Aerospace Development Mr..Festus Keyamo, SAN, has ordered the
removal of airfield lights at Mallam Aminu Kano International to replace the
missing airfield lights at Runway 18R at Murtala Muhammad International
Airport Lagos.
The regulatory body of civil aviation in Nigeria, the Nigeria Civil Aviation
Authority (NCAA) wishes to inform the public to disregard the report, as it is
not aware of any directive to remove any of the several airfield light
systems at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The NCAA noted that the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano is
among the five International airports in the country close to receiving
certification as required by the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO).
The Authority wishes to assure the traveling public that it will leave no stone
unturned in ensuring continuous safety of flight operations in all sectors of
civil aviation in Nigeria.
