Following the successful occupation of Kukawa Town by troops of 19 Brigade and elements of Task Force Arege and Garere, the people of Kukawa are now receiving free medical services after many years of dislodgement from their community due to incessant terrorists attacks.
Headquarters Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF organised the 2 – Days Medical Outreach hosted by 19 Brigade Nigerian Army from 15 – 16 August 2024 to provide free medical consultations, treatment and drugs to members of the community who were recently relocated to their ancestral homes in Kukawa.
The Bridage and its medical team provided medical care to over 1000 patients, including women and children in Kukawa and Cross Kauwa Communities.
The Commander 19 Brigade Brig Gen Shehu Ahmed while flagging-off the exercise said the gesture was carried out to support the people of the communities to settle down faster, ease some of their health challenges and support the efforts of the State and Local Government authorities aimed at restoring normalcy to the once thriving towns.
He further assured members of the communities of the Brigade’s commitments to providing security through the support of Headquarters Theatre Command, Multinational Joint Task Force, and Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF.
It worthy of mention that Kukawa Town, which is the headquarters of Kukawa LGA in Borno State, was rescued and successfully occupied by troops of 19 Brigade in June 2024 in a joint military operation led by Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Multinational Joint Task Force and Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF. Since then, over 4,000 members of the community have been resettled in their ancestral homes, and more are still coming back.
The Commander 19 Brigade while assuring the people of their safety, urged them to cooperate with the military and other security agencies in order to bring lasting peace to communities within the Brigade’s area of responsibility and the North East in general.
The 2-days medical outreach had in attendance the Chairman Kukawa LGA Hon Abba Fugu, Secretary Kukawa LGA, and the Community Leaders. Pictures attached.
