As part of its Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities, aimed at winning the hearts and minds of the locals, 29 Task Force Brigade, Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI has donated over 2,000 educational materials to schools across its Area of Responsibility.
The event was flagged off at Government Secondary School Benishiekh, Kaga Local Government Area (LGA), Borno State, today 18 November 24.
This initiative underscored the Nigerian Army’s commitment towards fostering Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), which essentially strengthens the existing ties with the local communities through non-kinetic approaches.
While flagging off the distribution of the materials, the Commander, 29 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammad Gambo Hammawa, highlighted the significance of CIMIC activities in achieving the Nigerian Army’s constitutional responsibilities. He stated, “These activities reflect our transformational drive and commitment to nation-building beyond the battlefield.”
Brigadier General Hammawa further reassured the community that such initiatives would continue throughout his tenure, promising to provide additional educational materials and replace the school’s blackboards with modern whiteboards.
He urged the students to be responsible, patriotic, and good ambassadors of their school and the nation at large.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Kaga LGA, Alhaji Mairu Goni Abdallah, expressed gratitude to the Commander and, indeed, the Nigerian Army for its unwavering support to the community.
He acknowledged the impact of the Nigerian Army’s contribution to the local educational system, stating “You are not just here to protect us but to add value to our lives through education support.”
He emphasized the importance of education as a catalyst for progress and debunked misconceptions about Western education, maintaining that those who oppose it are misguided.
He pledged his continuous support to the Nigerian Army’s effort in the region.
