According to the statement, on August 19, 2026, troops on patrol in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State encountered a terrorist ambush. The troops responded swiftly, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray. During the encounter, 5 civilians were rescued and reunited with their families, while 2 motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists were recovered.

Earlier, on August 18, 2026, troops acting on intelligence on 3 kidnapped victims conducted a search and rescue operation in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. All 3 victims were successfully rescued, profiled and handed over to the appropriate local authorities.

Similarly, troops responded to reported terrorist activities in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State on August 18, 2026. The rapid mobilization compelled the terrorists to flee, abandoning 2 captives. The victims, who had sustained gunshot wounds, were immediately evacuated to a medical facility for treatment. Efforts are ongoing to track and neutralize the fleeing terrorists.

The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance and swift response. It reassured residents of its determination to sustain pressure on terrorist elements across the Joint Operations Area.

The Command also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations and enhance the protection of lives and property.
