With macroeconomic stabilisation providing a stronger foundation, Nigeria is turning its attention to the next phase of its economic agenda: strengthening financial markets, mobilising capital and creating the conditions for sustainable growth, the CBN said on its X handle.

This forward-looking agenda featured in separate bilateral meetings with senior International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank leadership on the sidelines of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok on Monday, October 12, 2026.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Olayemi Cardoso, and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, met with IMF First Deputy Managing Director, Mr Dan Katz, and World Bank President, Mr Ajay Banga.
