This was disclosed in a statement issued on 19th October, 2026, by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

According to the statement, on 18th October, 2026, troops of Sector 2, in conjunction with local vigilantes, swiftly responded to a distress call over the activities of terrorists who had invaded Rambo Village in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area with the intention of kidnapping residents and rustling cattle.

Acting on the information, the troops immediately mobilised to the community, made contact with the terrorists and engaged in a firefight. The decisive intervention resulted in the successful rescue of a 40-year-old resident, Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara, and the recovery of 18 rustled cattle. The rescued victim and recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to the District Head of Rambo Village.

Similarly, on the same day, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), conducted coordinated raids on suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities of Maiyama Local Government Area of the state.

The joint operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs. The suspects and recovered substances are currently in the custody of the NDLEA Command in Maiyama for further investigation.

The Joint Task Force said it remains resolute in sustaining offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area, while appreciating the continued support and cooperation of local communities and urging members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
