Chief Ortom made the call on Sunday, October 25, 2026, during a meeting with PDP stakeholders at his residence in Makurdi, where party leaders and candidates discussed strategies for the forthcoming elections.

The former governor reaffirmed the party’s commitment to contesting the 2027 elections, stressing that unity, mutual understanding and collective commitment were essential to achieving its objectives.

He explained that the party had resolved to adopt a consensus approach to selecting its candidates, with the agreement of party leaders and members, as part of efforts to strengthen internal cohesion and prevent unnecessary divisions.

Chief Ortom urged candidates and party faithful to return to their respective constituencies and intensify grassroots mobilization, stressing that securing electoral victory required the collective efforts of all party members.

He also cautioned candidates against acrimony and violence, urging them to pursue their political ambitions peacefully and conduct their campaigns in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

In his remarks, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Patrick Abba Moro, charged party stakeholders to remain steadfast, united and committed to securing victory for the PDP in 2027.

Senator Moro emphasized that electoral success should remain the party’s primary objective, urging members to set aside personal differences and work collectively towards achieving their shared political goals.

He also commended Chief Ortom for his leadership of the party, noting that his efforts had helped position the PDP to pursue its ambition of returning to power in Benue State.

Speaking on behalf of the party’s House of Representatives candidates, Emmanuel Akaa expressed appreciation to the PDP leadership for giving them the opportunity to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming elections.

He reaffirmed the candidates’ commitment to the party and appreciated the confidence reposed in them, while underscoring the importance of cooperation among candidates, party leaders and grassroots members.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, thanked party members and stakeholders for their commitment and contributions towards strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adaji also commended the party leadership for its efforts and urged members to sustain their dedication, emphasising the need for continued collaboration as preparations for the elections gather momentum.

The PDP candidate for Benue North-West Senatorial District, Dr. Eunice Ortom, as well as other candidates of the party for the 2027 polls were present at the meeting.
