President Trump’s commendation, inspiring evidence of Tinubu’s determination to win war against terror – TDF

The Democratic Front (TDF) has welcomed the message of commendation and encouragement by US President Donald Trump acknowledging the spirited and successful efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in combating terrorism in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary Wale Adedayo, the group described it as a grand affirmation of the Tinubu administration’s resolve to make Nigeria safer.

The statement read in part: “It is of importance for us to note that Trump’s commendation came at a time when President Tinubu’s aggressive pursuit of peace and security in Nigeria and the West African sub-region is at a record high.

“Similarly, it outrightly confirms our long-held opinion that his earlier threat to storm Nigeria “gun a-blazing” was caused by the disinformation and negative propaganda orchestrated to mislead the American President and his government about insecurity in Nigeria by irresponsible individuals who were working in cohort with some political interest groups to cause disharmony and strain in the long-standing Nigeria-US diplomatic relations.

“This pleasant development from the US President has underscored President Tinubu’s diplomatic maturity and steadfastness in handling the rather provocative assault on Nigeria’s sovereignty, by the unwarranted threat of military invasion from the American President.

“We are equally glad to acknowledge the success of series of diplomatic rapprochement which President Tinubu initiated in the wake of the tension between the two countries.

“The Nigeria-US military collaboration which focuses on precision targeting and strikes has significantly decimated the camps of Sahelian terrorists that were operating within the fringes of the Nigerian borders with Niger Republic, Chad, Cameroun, and Benin Republic.

“The successes recorded in the war against terrorism and banditry are evidenced in the remarkable reduction of security breaches across the country.

“It is fascinating to further acknowledge that the effectiveness of the US military precision strikes in neutralizing terrorists in Nigeria has shown remarkable improvement in the intelligence capabilities of Nigeria’s security and defense forces on the watch of President Tinubu as Commander-in-Chief.

“Additionally, we view President Trump’s letter of commendation as another validation of the unprecedented success and accomplishments in combating the spate of insecurity in Nigeria, since the beginning of the Tinubu administration in May 2023.

“And curiously, there is no doubt that President Trump’s commendation letter is a devastating blow to opposition politicians in Nigeria, and a deserving answer to their unpatriotic plot to weaponize insecurity as an advantage in their electioneering campaign against Tinubu ahead of 2027.”

The group called on Nigerians to reject attempts by the opposition to politicize insecurity in the country.
