Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, JTF NW OPFY, have rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call from local residents on terrorist activities along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State on 3 September 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police swiftly mobilized to the scene and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower.

“The terrorists fled in disarray into the surrounding bush abandoning their victims,” the statement said.

Exploitation of the general area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims along with two vehicles used by the terrorists. The rescued victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, while troops continue to dominate the general area with aggressive patrols to deny the terrorists freedom of action.

The statement said the successful rescue operation demonstrates the resolve of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA appreciated the general public for its continuous support and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their localities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action.
