The facility, commissioned on October 29, 2026, comprises male and female wards, a maternity unit, a nurses’ station, a labour room and supporting conveniences.

The CNS, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, who was the Special Guest of Honour, was represented at the ceremony by the Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Jonathan Mamman.

Speaking on behalf of the CNS, Rear Admiral Mamman emphasised the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to Civil-Military Cooperation through interventions that address critical community needs and promote social development. He noted that the facility exemplifies the Service’s efforts to strengthen relations with host communities while supporting access to essential healthcare.

The impact of the intervention was highlighted in the goodwill message delivered by the Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, who expressed delight at witnessing the milestone. He commended the project facilitator, Rear Admiral Nan-Manle Fredrick Damtong, for distinguishing himself as an illustrious son of the soil and contributing meaningfully to the development of his community, the Local Government and Plateau State.

He described the facility as a landmark project that would benefit generations to come, borne out of love for the community and patriotism.

The Chairman also expressed appreciation to the CNS for considering the community worthy of the intervention, noting that the facility, particularly its maternity unit, would improve access to healthcare for residents. He assured that the community would identify with the CNS’s community development mandate by ensuring effective utilisation of the facility for present and future generations.

In his remarks, the project facilitator, Rear Admiral Damtong, acknowledged the support of the CNS in actualising the project and called on beneficiaries to take ownership of the facility by ensuring its effective utilisation, proper maintenance and sustainability.

The ceremony attracted top government officials from Pankshin LGA, the District Head and the Mishkom Mupun of Mupun Chiefdom, His Royal Highness Da Yusuf Walle Fwangbring, alongside other dignitaries. Following the commissioning, the CNS’s representative and other guests toured the facility.

The project underscores the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to translating its community development mandate into tangible benefits through targeted interventions that promote public welfare, strengthen civil-military relations and support sustainable community development.
