China is providing emergency humanitarian assistance to Colombia following a powerful earthquake that hit the South American country.
According to the report, 80 tonnes of relief materials including generators, water purification equipment, tents, blankets and solar lighting are being shipped from Beijing to Bogota. The items will be delivered to communities affected by the disaster.
The aid is part of China’s regular emergency response to countries impacted by natural disasters, conflict and public health crises.
In recent months, Beijing has provided cash assistance to flood-hit southern African nations including Zimbabwe and Malawi, as well as humanitarian provisions to conflict zones in the Middle East.
China also partners with international organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme to build climate disaster early-warning systems in vulnerable regions.
The latest intervention underscores Beijing’s continued engagement in global disaster relief and humanitarian support efforts.
